Napa's Wine Train Now Offers Afternoon Tea and a Secret Garden Onboard
The Napa Valley Wine Train is outdoing itself with its latest three-hour ride.

The Napa Valley Wine Train is known for transporting travelers in a more romantic atmosphere. The train scenic train meanders through some of California's most pristine landscapes, punctuated by stops at a few of its best vineyards, all with delicious multi-course meals in between. And now, the train has a brand-new journey for guests to enjoy, all thanks to a partnership with Chandon.

In early June, the train line announced the "Secret Garden Afternoon Tea" experience that takes place in a specially-designed rail car. The journey brings together Napa Valley Wine Train's already popular four-course afternoon tea and pairs it with Chandon's new Garden Spritz, a ready-to-drink summer aperitif made with sparkling wine and a Chandon house-made "Garden liqueur" dreamt up by the brand's winemaking team in Argentina, and which uses using locally sourced Valencia oranges, herbs, and spices.

"It's a privilege to partner with Chandon as the winery celebrates its 50th anniversary in Napa Valley and bring them aboard the train for this limited 2023 seasonal, Summer and Fall, experience," Nathan Davis, general manager of the Napa Valley Wine Train, shared in a statement. "This is our first exclusive partnership with a local sparkling wine producer, and Chandon's luxurious Garden Spritz innovation is the perfect way to start your Afternoon Tea service."
As Davis explained, the entire ride takes three hours, bringing guests through the valley all in an updated train car that comes with fine China for eating, as well as a brand-new indoor secret garden created by florist Zeineb Huizinga.

The Chandon "Secret Garden Afternoon Tea" experience is available for booking Saturdays and Sundays through October 2023. The train departs at 11:30 a.m. and returns at 2:30 p.m. every day. Tickets start at $215 and include an arrival cocktail (a Chandon Garden Spritz, naturally), a selection of steeped teas, a demi-tasse portion of soup and petite salad course, finger sandwiches, scones, the train's signature mini desserts, and, of course, the three-hour ride.
Guests can upgrade their experience with Chandon cocktails purchasable at the bar. They can even buy a bottle of the Chandon Blanc de Noirs or the brand's By The Bay Reserve Blanc de Blancs on the train to pair with a caviar course.
