If you’re not familiar with the name “Naomi Osaka,” prepare to hear it for years to come because this tennis pro isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. At just 23-years-old, Osaka is ranked No. 2 among singles players by the Women’s Tennis Association and has four Grand Slam titles to her name. With stats like that, we can only help but wonder how she stays so motivated and focused (because we’ll take what she’s having). Fortunately for us, Osaka sat down with the team over at BODYARMOR LYTE Sports Drink to give some insight on how she keeps her game strong.

“Preparation. For me, my routine is very important so getting a lot of rest, staying hydrated with BODYARMOR LYTE and just being mentally prepared,” Osaka said, when referring to the steps she takes in order to play at her highest level. “When I’m playing my best, I’m very confident and I’m not thinking about what the other person is doing.”

“I meditate a lot and try to get myself to notice my strengths more than my weaknesses, and not dwell too much on the past,” she said in regards to how she improves her game during the off-season. When it comes to Osaka’s nutritional habits, she sticks to the usual script. “I always eat the same thing, like rye bread and smoked salmon in the morning and before my matches I eat plain pasta with olives or chicken. It’s not too complicated.”

In terms of what’s next in her career, Osaka says it would mean a lot to her to win a third US Open title. “New York is where I grew up and it’s my maiden Grand Slam place. I have so many memories of going to Flushing Meadows and watching the pros play when I was a kid and wanting to do what they do.”

We’re rooting for you, girl!
