By now, you’d hope that people would keep their opinions of women’s bodies and outfit choices to themselves, but it seems like we still have work to do. On Sunday, Naomi Osaka stood up for herself on social media after she was called out for posting a bikini picture to Instagram.

The tennis champion, who is currently ranked number one in singles by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), shared a photo in a yellow bikini while enjoying some summer sun. (That glow!)

Apparently, some folks had a problem with the look and commented that she should not be posting such photos. Osaka had some words for these people.

“I just wanna say it’s creeping me out how many people are commenting at me to maintain my ‘innocent image’ and ‘don’t try to be someone you’re not,’” she tweeted on Sunday. “You don’t know me, I’m 22, I wear swimsuits to the pool. Why do you feel like you can comment on what I can wear?”

Osaka’s fans quickly jumped in to support her. “Thank you for standing up for women and girls to dress however they feel comfortable. Take pride in who you are and express yourself how you wish!” the user wrote. “You’re doing nothing wrong at all. People will make comments if you post on Twitter, but you never need their approval to be yourself.”

Another person reminded Osaka that others are in no place to make comments about her life choices. “I’m sorry that people feel they have the right to judge you and your life. You’re a beautiful, strong, talented woman who can do whatever she pleases—so please keep on keeping on and always be you,” the fan tweeted.

Bottom line: There’s a lot going on in the world right now and we do not need to be stirring up drama because a woman chose to wear a bikini. Plus, the comments clearly didn’t stop Osaka from expressing herself. She shared another round of bikini photos because, well, she can. Do you, Naomi!
