Naomi Campbell Stripped Down for Her First-Ever Vivienne Westwood Campaign
It looks like the trauma of tripping on a runway is behind her, because nearly three decades after she took a tumble at the Vivienne Westwood fall 1993 show, supermodel Naomi Campbell is fronting a campaign from the storied British designer for the very first time. The spring 2020 shot, which was lensed by Juergen Teller, includes a shot of Campbell (which she shared on Instagram) wearing nothing but an over-the-top tulle hat and sky-high heels, which could be a nod to her infamous fall.
"I believe things in life come along when they are meant to," Campbell said in a statement about the new campaign. "It's taken 33 years to do a Westwood Campaign and I'm so happy to be doing it in my 49th year. It's meant to be when it's meant to be."
It's not all nudity, however, the campaign includes shots of Campbell clad in Westwood's signature draped dresses and has her posing alongside the designer herself and Andreas Kronthaler, Westwood's husband.

Campbell hasn't been shy about her somewhat-historic fall, either. She spoke about it last year, saying that she was embarrassed, but that she also knew that she had to keep going.
"I was embarrassed," Campbell told Westwood during an interview for British Vogue. "I was embarrassed because also it was not the right time of the month for a woman to fall and I felt like I should have practiced more … there’s a trick to walking in your shoes. The most important thing is that I said to myself, ‘Get up and keep going, that’s all you have to do."
As for Westwood, she didn't sweat it. She noted that Campbell looked great, fall and all: "It was really beautiful when you fell, it was like a gazelle."
