Nantasket Flatts sets reopening date for Hull restaurant. And a smokin' menu addition

After shuttering its doors more than a year ago, Nantasket Flatts in Hull is ready to reopen to hungry customers.

The restaurant at 145 Nantasket Ave. will open on Wednesday, May 22 at 4 p.m. Its more laidback menu will feature hamburgers, hot dogs, fried clams, lobsters and a raw bar.

And come mid-June, the restaurant will offer classic barbecue dishes through a partnership with a new catering company called Lily’s Craft Barbecue and Catering. Richard Vaughan, who co-owns Nantasket Flatts with wife Tracy, did not reveal who is behind the company.

“We were working on partnering with a few pizza companies and barbecue companies that would complement the seafood offerings and fill the void in the off season when fried clams and lobster roll sales drop,” Richard Vaughan said. The couple also runs The Jetty in Marshfield and The Blue Oar in Cohasset.

Through the partnership, Lily’s will cook its food out of one of the restaurant’s kitchens. Customers will be able to order St. Louis-style ribs, pulled pork, smoked turkey, pork belly burnt ends or smoked meatloaf as well as sides of collard greens, potato salad, mac and cheese and cornbread.

The restaurant closed in January 2023 after 3 ½ years in business. The Vaughans attempted to sell the two-story, 5,389-square-foot restaurant with a liquor license. They plan to keep the restaurant on the market while it's open for business.
