Nancy Grace Takes on the Long Island Serial Killer Case
Nancy Grace will make her Investigation Discovery debut next week as she launches her own look into the Long Island serial killer case.
Architect Rex Heuermann was arrested in July 2023 in connection with the deaths of Megan Waterman, Melissa Barthelemy and Amber Costello, whose bodies were found at Gilgo Beach, on the South Shore of Long Island, more than a decade ago. He's also the prime suspect in the death of Maureen Brainard-Barnes.
Grace, a legal analyst and journalist who has spent years investigating crimes, will be joined by a panel of experts to dig into Heuermann's alleged murders.

What is the Nancy Grace Long Island Killer special called?
Nancy's Grace's special is called ID Special Report: The Long Island Serial Killer.
As reported by Deadline, Grace will work together with a panel of experts to take a closer look at the victims and suspect Rex Heuermann.
The outlet added, "They will discuss how the suspect concealed his [alleged] crimes for so long, dive into what the police knew and when they knew it, and discuss what’s next for the families of those he’s suspected of killing, as well as for those that continue to seek justice."
When does ID Special Report: The Long Island Serial Killer come on?
The one-hour special will air on Aug. 13, 2023 at 8 p.m. ET. This will be Grace's first report for Investigation Discovery.

What did the Long Island serial killer do?
The Long Island serial killer case dates back to 2010, when investigators launched a search for a missing sex worker and found the bodies of 11 women buried along Gilgo Beach.
In 2023, investigators charged architect Rex Heuermann with the murder of three of the victims: Melissa Barthelemy, 24; Megan Waterman, 22; and Amber Lynn Costello, 27. Investigators also named Heuermann the "prime suspect" in the disappearance and death of 25-year-old Maureen Brainard-Barnes.

Authorities began to pinpoint Heuermann in connection with the crimes in 2022. He matched a description provided by a witness and lived and worked near cell-phone sites that synced up with related calls made to the victims via burner phones. What's more, hair belonging to Heuermann's now-estranged wife was found on or near the victims. (His wife and two kids were out of town at the time of his alleged killings.)
Authorities revealed to CNN that they were motivated to arrest Heuermann after growing concern that he was planning another murder.
