Joan Mitchell Foundation accuses Louis Vuitton of copyright infringement
Celebrated American abstract artist Joan Mitchell's foundation recently sent a cease-and-desist letter to Louis Vuitton, claiming that the fashion house had used the late artist's paintings in a handbag advertisement against the foundation's approval. The letter, as read by the New York Times, states that Louis Vuitton infringed upon the artist's copyright, and requests that the brand withdraw the images or face legal consequences. "It is a grave disappointment to the Joan Mitchell Foundation that Louis Vuitton has such disregard for the rights of an artist and would exploit her work for financial gain," the nonprofit said in a statement. Meanwhile, Mitchell's works are currently on view at the Fondation Louis Vuitton, an exhibition opened by LVMH. {New York Times}

The British-born designer has also held positions at Calvin Klein, Gap and Tommy Hilfiger. Trotter's new vision will be revealed during the Spring 2023 season, during Paris Fashion Week in September. {Fashionista inbox}

What's behind TikTok's "deinfluencing" trend?
TikTok's latest viral trend, "deinfluencing," might seem counterintuitive, but is quickly gaining traction. The trend refers to influencers sharing products that they didn't like (as opposed to recommending the ones they did), and oftentimes suggesting alternatives. While creators conventionally don't share negative reviews for fear of alienating potential brand partners, it seems like consumers are increasingly gravitating towards this type of content for its honesty and relatability. {Business of Fashion}
