Inside the battle for Pierre Cardin's estate
In a real-life version of 'Succession,' the 22 supposed heirs to French fashion designer Pierre Cardin are involved in an epic battle for his legacy. Cardin, who passed away in late 2020, left no indication of what was to become of his estate and had no direct heirs, reports The New York Times writer Dana Thomas. Now, what remains is a complicated legal battle between two sides of the family, which may very well result in the company being put up for sale. {The New York Times/paywalled}

Jennifer Coolidge partners with E.l.f. on collaboration
Inspired by a viral moment earlier this year in which Jennifer Coolidge joked about her signature lipstick name, E.l.f Cosmetics and Coolidge have partnered to release a lip kit. Complete with lip gloss, liner and lipstick in a trio of pink shades, the kit features the shades "Swollen," "Dirty Pillow" and "Full Frontal" — all named by the actor. Kory Marchisotto, the beauty brand's CEO, shared in a statement that "by taking an unscripted moment and transforming it into a premium lip collection at E.l.f. speed, we go beyond beauty to entertain our community." The collection will be available exclusively on elfcosmetics.com, beginning Sept. 27. {Fashionista inbox}

Now that 95% of NFTs are worthless, how is fashion finding other uses for Web3?
Cryptocurrency and Web3 have not had the best year with 95% of all NFTs being deemed worthless by cryptanalysis company DappGambl in a recent study. However, the luxury fashion market is still clinging to the use of limited digital goods — just not in the traditional sense. This past summer, Louis Vuitton dropped $39,000 trunks that double as both digital and physical goods, and just last week, an NFT was used as the ticket for Prada's Milan Fashion Week show, writes Glossy's Danny Parisi. {Glossy/paywalled}
