These are the stories making headlines in fashion on Thursday.

The hands behind your favorite NYFW looks
So often when we talk about NYFW, the buzz is around the collections themselves—but what about those who contribute behind the scenes? José Criales-Unzueta from Vogue spoke to the founders of HIPS, a garment development studio that is the hands behind looks for labels such as Christopher John Rogers, Theophilio, Elena Velez and Puppets and Puppets. Bryan Datinguinoo and Clarissa Arocena talked to Criales-Unzueta about their approach to pattern-making, being a part of an immigrant community and working with talented creatives. "These designers would still succeed without us, because they have brilliant stories and visions that are undeniable, which is why we pick them. But it's an honor to be trusted with their fantasy, and to do some of the biggest things that define who they are," Arocena said. {Vogue}

Designers make the runway personal
Fashion week has evolved from the runway being used solely to usher in new trends to becoming a platform for designers to tell stories about their heritage. Adeam designer Hanako Maeda recreated the joyful energy of Japanese summer festivals for the setting of her Spring 2023 show while Theophilio designer Edvin Thompson was entirely inspired by Carnival. As written by Alison S. Cohn for Harper's Bazaar, "If the runway provides designers a moment to share their vision and purpose with the world — especially now that live streaming and social media mean millions of eyes might be on your show — then many of them seem to feel that sharing a piece of themselves is the most meaningful use of the spotlight." {Harper's Bazaar}

There's a waitlist for Beyoncé's "Renaissance" cowboy hat, too
While tickets for Beyoncé's "Renaissance World Tour" continue to sell out by the hour, Etsy seller Abby Misbin is also racking up her own waitlist. The designer is the creative behind the glittery cowboy hat that Queen Bey wears in her tour poster. Misbin tells Danielle Cohen from The Cut that she sold out of cowboy hats once a post went viral on Twitter. Currently, the waitlist is around 474 people, with a maximum of 500. "I've gained like 200 huge Beyoncé fans on my Instagram, and they're so nice and willing to wait for hats," Misbin said. {The Cut}

Influencers are getting real
For Elle, Véronique Hyland explores the shift in influencer culture and the current trend calling for "de-influencing." Influencers such as Emma Chamberlain and Julia Fox have been able to maintain a strong following due to finding the balance between being relatable and aspirational. While influencers will not be going anywhere anytime soon, there may be a change in who influencers will target—meaning people will not try to be a person for everyone. "There are people on the platform that are very honest: 'This is my life. This is not the aspirational life to be living, but I'm doing it and I'm working hard.' People do watch that, and they actually root for the person that's trying to better their lives," said Kirbie Johnson, a beauty reporter and co-host of the beauty podcast Gloss Angeles. {Elle}
