Gucci faces backlash for showing straitjackets at Milan Fashion Week
It wasn't long ago that Gucci's Alessandro Michele sent a blackface-inspired sweater down the runway, and at Sunday's Spring 2020 show in Milan, he ignited another uproar. During the show, fashion observers and editors noticed that many of the pieces resembled straitjackets, a garment historically worn in mental health facilities. Model Ayesha Tan Jones showed their disapproval of Michele's latest collection by protesting during their runway walk with "mental health is not fashion" written across their hands. {The New York Times}

Dior is going green for its upcoming runway show
Maria Grazia Chiuri has plans to boost Dior's sustainability with the set for its latest show in Paris. The show will be a collaboration with Coloco, a Paris-based "landscape and urbanism collective," and will feature 164 trees that will later be replanted around the French capital. The runway show — which was conceived as an "inclusive garden" — will promote the need for plant diversity as a response to climate change. "The tree is an important symbol because it's about investing in nature. Planting for the future is a positive action," says Chiuri. {WWD}
