How "genderless" became beauty's new buzzword
For Highsnobiety, Tynan Sinks reports on the phenomenon of "genderless beauty." The term began to circulate in the beauty market in the mid-2010s, continuing to gain traction as brands reexamined inclusivity. Similarly to buzzwords like "clean beauty" and "sustainable beauty," "genderless beauty" remains undefined. Sinks concludes that, while there are inclusive beauty brands doing it the right way and the "genderless beauty" concept is a step in the right direction, "in the business of beauty, profit always comes before values," adding, "Seeing ourselves reflected in today's beauty campaigns can be affirming, yes. But it shouldn't be taken at face value." {Highsnobiety}
