How would you define an icon?
An icon to me is someone who acts without permission, without waiting to be told that it’s okay to be themselves.
What icon do you wish you could have met?
I wish I could have met Jesus, just to figure out what he actually thinks. I’m like, “Yo, they’re putting a lot of words in your mouth. So can I just get it straight from you?”
When do you feel most iconic?
I feel the most iconic every day, honestly, but I feel most iconic when I wear something that makes me feel good—especially if I’m overdressed.
What is the most iconic astrological sign?
The most iconic astrological sign is Taurus: Grace Jones, Malcolm X, Moses.
What do you want your legacy to be?
I want to be remembered for asking the tough questions in my art, for making people think, and for challenging the idea of a simple, binary existence.
