New Music Friday: New Songs From Demi Lovato, Wafia, BENEE, and more

Welcome to the second week of Teen Vogue's New Music Friday. What have you been doing to stay busy? Baking banana bread? Trying out the latest beauty trends you've seen on TikTok? Whatever has been preoccupying your time, you'll surely need some new jams to help you get down while chilling at home. Thankfully, there's plenty of fresh tunes that have dropped this past week that'll surely upgrade your stay-at-home playlists.

We've been treated to some new renditions of songs by Demi Lovato and BENEE, giving us an emo twist and stripped-down version respectively. Then there's been some other fresh tracks that encapsulate what it's been like where every day blurs into one another while others are a bit of an escapist fantasy to a far off beach. Check out some of our picks of new music below.

Demi Lovato featuring Travis Barker, "I Love Me" - Emo Version

Demi Lovato's been dropping new music over the past couple of months, first with her track "I Love Me" in early March and then "I'm Ready," her collab with Sam Smith. She's back with an emo version of "I Love Me" featuring none other than Travis Barker from Blink-182. The chaotic drums really punch up Demi's vocals, making for the perfect self-love anthem while moshing around the living room.

Wafia, "Pick Me"

This sunny track was written by Wafia after a painful break-up last year, but it's not focused on her ex – it's about the musician putting herself first and looking toward the future. It's bright, it's groovy, and it's definitely going to put you in a good mood. On top of all this, the lyric video was made by Wafia's sister. We love a family affair!

BENEE, "Lownely"

You've probably heard BENEE's viral hit “Supalonely” featuring Gus Dapperton by now, but now she's stripping it down with "Lownely." The track showcases the sounds of ethereal guitar, delicate production, and lush strings along with the indie sensation's voice. She also wanted to embrace the sadness that she felt when she wrote "Supalonely," which clearly comes through with these raw elements in "Lownely."

The Regrettes, "What Am I Gonna Do Today"

Eerily enough, the band's frontwoman Lydia Night wrote this song before shutdowns started due to the COVID-19 crisis. The Regrettes ended up finishing the song and filming the music video remotely, which encapsulates what a lot of us have been feeling while staying at home and socially distancing. It leans into the melancholy of everything, along with being pretty soothing.

Kim Petras, "Malibu"

We all wish we were cruising up Pacific Coast Highway on our way to Malibu, right? That might not be practical considering the current state of things, but the beach-y vibes of this track will transport you away. It's a sun-kissed bop that sure to have you California dreamin' between Kim's silky crooning and upbeat instrumentals.
