This Museum In London Will Pay You A $50K Salary To Become Their "Head Of Coffee"
If you have a passion for coffee and art (wow, you sound very cool), then I have a pretty lucrative job prospect for you. The Tate Britain in London is hiring a "Head of Coffee" who stands to make more than $50,000 a year to oversee, well, coffee!
The person who is selected for the job, reported on by Food and Wine, will be responsible for the coffee at all four Tate locations in the U.K. and will oversee "sourcing, blending, and roasting coffee for use in all Tate Eats’ sites and managing the Hot Beverage Team that is responsible for all aspects of tea and coffee delivery."
It's not as if you can just be an espresso fan and land the job, though. It also requires that the person who takes it have "strong leadership and lead a team that makes a unique, ethical, quality-driven product while delivering a profitable business model." Honestly, it sounds like a pretty hard job, because the Tate also has its own coffee roastery and you'd be managing the caffeine consumption of a bunch of different locations.
The job particularly raised eyebrows with some because it pays a little under $52,000 ($51,962) and comes with great benefits. For anyone who has looked at rent in London lately, you'll know that it's not so much that $50,000 is too high a salary for any job, but that museum curators stand to make about $40,000 in London, according to The BBC.

The Tate responded to criticism, saying that the Head of Coffee would be a managerial role and that for a curator role to be similar, it would be a "curatorial team leader" role, which would pay more, according to The Guardian.
“All Tate’s departments have a variety of roles with different responsibilities and salaries, including curatorial, and a more accurate comparison would be a curatorial team leader,” the statement read. “We value all our staff and strive to pay them appropriately for their work at Tate.”
