It’s been a turbulent few years for Dance Moms star Abby Lee Miller. The reality star has recently been busy trying to get back to her former glory with the return of all-new Dance Moms for season 8. But the struggles of the last three years - a bankruptcy scandal and 2017 jail sentence and her public cancer battle - haven’t come cheap, and it’s likely that Miller’s net worth has suffered the price. While the show and her tough-love teaching has produced high-earning young stars like Maddie Ziegler, Chloe Lukasiak, and Jojo Siwa, it turns out that the kids could actually be worth more than their once-mentor.
Like many of her talented young students, Miller has been ambitious and business-minded from an early age. Raised in her mother’s dance studio, she grew up immersed in the world of piques and pirouettes, but lacked the passion for performing. Instead, she sought out teaching, beginning to coach and choreograph at 14 before eventually taking over her mother’s studio.
Through the years, Miller’s blunt, controversial teaching style produced thousands of graduates from the Abby Lee Dance Center in Pittsburgh, may of whom moved on to get jobs on Broadway and other professional dance outlets. But the ultimate success came when Miller signed a six-year contract with Lifetime to launch what is now her claim to fame, the Dance Moms franchise. Aside from Dance Moms, Miller made money off of three spinoffs: Dance Moms: Miami, Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition, and Abby’s Studio Rescue. She also has a line of ALDC dance wear and wrote a book in 2014.

At one point, Us Weekly reports Miller was making a paycheck of nearly $9,000 per month from the original show. But between her court battle during her bankruptcy fraud charges, jail time, and now medical bills from her diagnosis with Burkitt Lymphoma, Miller’s net worth is certainly not what it once was. According to Celebrity Net Worth, right now she is reportedly worth an estimated $2 million, but her 2018 salary and earnings are still under review.
The bankruptcy court case revealed that Miller had hidden $755,000 worth of income from the US Government, resulting in her having to pay $40,000 in fines along with a $120,000 judgment when convicted of fraud.
To put her current net worth into perspective, Celebrity Net Worth estimates that Dance Moms star-turned-Youtube-sensation Jojo Siwa is worth an estimated $12 million at just 15. Siwa has good relationship with Miller and gave her $10,000 from Dancers Against Cancer to aid in her medical bills.
