The MTV Movie & TV Awards, which once promised to be an "epic night," aired as a pre-taped ceremony on Sunday night without host Drew Barrymore, who pulled out of the event last week due to the ongoing WGA writers' strike.

The decision to air a pre-taped ceremony came after the WGA announced its intentions to picket at the event, which had been set to take place at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica.

“As we carefully navigate how best to deliver the fan first awards’ show we envisioned that our team has worked so hard to create, we’re pivoting away from a live event that still enables us to produce a memorable night full of exclusive sneak peeks, irreverent categories our audience has come to expect and countless moments that will both surprise and delight as we honor the best of film and TV over the past year,” Bruce Gillmer, executive producer of the MTV Movie & TV Awards, said in a statement.

Here's who took home Golden Popcorn awards.

Who was honored with the Comedic Genius Award?

Jennifer Coolidge

After two decades as a Hollywood mainstay, “Stifler's mom” from the 1999 comedy classic American Pie, has finally started earning the acclaim she deserves. Her portrayal of the wealthy, unstable and oblivious fan favorite character “Tanya McQuoid” in HBO’s The White Lotus has earned her a Golden Globe, Emmy, SAG Award and two Critics' Choice Awards—in the last year alone!

And now she has a Golden Popcorn to add to her arsenal. "Almost all great comedy starts with great writers," Coolidge said in her pre-taped acceptance speech. The comment was a show of solidarity with the WGA members who are currently on strike.
