MSNBC’s ‘Morning Joe’ Co-Hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski Are Engaged: Here’s How He Proposed

Congrats to the co-host couple! Longtime Morning Joe co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski are engaged, MSNBC confirmed on Thursday, May 4.

According to the network, Scarborough proposed to Brzezinski while the two were on vacation in Antibes. Scarborough concealed his proposal plans under the guise that it was Crzezinski’s 50th birthday getaway, but he had prepared the exact spot: On a steep incline overlooking the Mediterranean.

“Halfway up the hill, he said he needed to sit down,” she told Vanity Fair, which first broke the news on Thursday morning. “We hadn’t been feeling well, so I thought, Oh, poor guy, he can’t make it up the hill.’ His glasses were fogging up he was so nervous. I kept thinking he really must not have felt well.”

He then got down on one knee and proposed with an oval-shaped engagement ring. “When I saw him on one knee, I started laughing nervously, almost hysterically,” Brzezinski continued. “And then he asked, and I said, ‘Absolutely.’”

The future spouses have now been with Morning Joe since 2007. Viewers have noticed the undeniable chemistry between the pair for years, though the couple’s official relationship status was kept a secret from the public until now. In recent months, the two seemed ready to address their romance.

Scarborough, 54, hinted at the relationship just last month while speaking to The Hollywood Reporter. “We have a crackling on-air chemistry,” he said, “and a crackling off-air chemistry, too.”

He also took to Twitter to graciously thank followers for their support.

Between the power couple, the two have six children from previous marriages. This will be the second marriage for Brzezinski and the third for Scarborough. “We know that our kids have a lot of options about what they read about us,” Scarborough told VF. “We wanted to do one interview on the record. To answer the question is just as important for them as it is for us, to say it once that we’re together and we want to be together forever.”
