Get movin’! GR brings back outdoor summer workout programs

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — If you’re looking to get moving this summer while enjoying the great outdoors, you’re in luck.

The city of Grand Rapids is bringing back its free outdoor fitness program for a ninth straight year. Classes will range from yoga to dancing and cardio-focused courses. They will be held in community spaces across the city starting May 13.

“Thanks to our partners and instructors, we continue to expand this free series and create community connection by getting active in our parks and public spaces,” GR Parks and Recreation Director David Marquardt said. “We’re excited to welcome the return of this nearly decade-long summer tradition.”

Classes will held every Monday through Thursday except on Memorial Day and the Fourth of July and last from 30 to 45 minutes. . The full schedule can be found below:

Mondays

  • Basic yoga at Mulick Park from 6-6:45 p.m.

  • SoulfulMotion at MacKay-Jaycees Park from 6:30-7:15 p.m.

  • Zumba at Rosa Parks Circle from 6:30-7:15 p.m.

Tuesdays

  • Barre on the Blue Bridge from 5:30-6:15 p.m.

  • 30-minute HIIT at Lookout Park from 6:15-6:45 p.m.

  • Clute Aerobics at 555 Monroe Avenue NW from 6:30-7:15 p.m.

  • Sunset yoga at Lookout Park from 7-7:45 p.m.

Wednesdays

  • Sunrise yoga at Indian Trails Golf Course from 6:30-7:15 a.m.

  • Pumped Up Strength at Cherry Park from 6-6:45 p.m.

  • African Dance at 555 Monroe Avenue NW from 7-7:45 p.m.

  • WERQ at Highland Park from 7-7:45 p.m.

Thursdays

  • Basic yoga at Sixth Street Park from 12-12:45 p.m.

  • POUND on the Blue Bridge from 5:30-6:15 p.m.

  • HIGH Low Fitness at Calder Plaza from 6-6:45 p.m.

  • Basic yoga at MLK Park from 6–6:45 p.m.

  • Line dancing at Roosevelt Park from 7:15-8 p.m.
