A Movie Based on the Thai Cave Rescue Is Already in the Works

If you’re still wondering how 12 Thai kids and their coach got stuck in a cave for three weeks, you’ve come to the right place.

Pure Flix is in the early stages of developing a movie based on the recent rescue mission in Chiang Rai, Thailand. Michael Scott (no, not that one), managing partner of Pure Flix, revealed the decision was a no-brainer, considering he’s a part-time Thai resident and a family friend of Sgt. Saman Kunan, the volunteer rescuer who tragically lost his life on July 6.

“I could not be more excited; this story has meant so much to me as I followed it,” he told reporters. “To see all that bravery in the cave and then to get all the divers out has been such a touching event.”

Scott went on to say the film will offer a positive outlook, adding, “We’re here looking at this as a movie that could inspire millions of people around the globe. We’re here witnessing the events and gathering some contact information to really tell a story about the entire world coming together.”

The three-week ordeal started on June 23 when rising flood waters trapped the soccer team inside the cave with no way out. This prompted an international rescue effort, with volunteers from all over the world lending their resources to retrieve the boys one by one.

We’re already on the edge of our seat.
