Move Over, Halloween Weddings — Halloween Gender Reveals Are Apparently the Next Big Thing
Sure, not every parent believes that announcing a baby’s gender is worth celebrating with a gender reveal, and yeah, even the inventor of gender reveals says the trend has gone off the rails, but if you’re a parent-to-be, every milestone moment seems like it’s worth throwing a big, crazy party for — and we’ll almost never turn down an excuse to party.
If you’re having a winter baby, a Halloween gender reveal makes total sense. When you think about it, gender reveals are theatrical in and of themselves, just like the holiday in question. And what’s a better stand-in for a mama-to-be’s belly than a big, round pumpkin? Add in the costumes, the illusions, and the dark magic of Halloween, and you’ve got yourself a perfect match. Paint the pumpkins pink or blue, hollow out a pumpkin and put some kind of reveal item inside (confetti, ribbons, balloons, or a tinier painted pumpkin), or illuminate a pumpkin at night in pink or blue.
Smoke effects, especially ones that use Holi powder, are incredibly popular for gender reveals year-round. To add a Halloweeny twist to it, you can have the colored smoke emerge from a carved pumpkin, a witch’s cauldron, or a smiling skull. Or, if you want to go in a cuter direction, you can try decorating ghosts with either a bow tie or a hair bow, and have them ask the question, “Boo-y or Ghoul?” Here, some Halloween gender reveal ideas to get your fall party started.
Congrats, it's a ghoul!
