Back in 2020, the internet went crazy over Gigi Hadid's recipe for spicy vodka pasta. In a series of Instagram stories, she taught us how to transform tomato paste into a rich, creamy sauce that rivals the famous $32 version at NYC's Carbone.

If you love her recipe as much as we do, you need to see this new viral recipe from her supermodel sister Bella Hadid. In a TikTok posted last month, Bella recorded herself making spaghetti, grilled vegetables, and pesto toast. When we weren't dancing along to Beyonce's newest single playing in the background, we were absolutely mesmerized by her new pasta.

Bella Hadid's prosciutto pasta looks incredible in the TikTok, but how does it actually taste in real life? Is it better than her sister's recipe? In the spirit of scientific experimentation, I decided to put it to the test.

Since she didn't include any measurements or a written recipe, I built the pasta solely based on visual cues. Here's how my ingredients compared to Bella's:

First, I toasted the pine nuts in olive oil. Usually I'm a firm believer in allowing nuts to toast in their own fat. Bella's technique, however, evenly browned them without burning and infused the olive oil with a nutty flavor, maximizing the benefits of this expensive ingredient.

Next came the garlic, chili flakes, and prosciutto. Maybe it was TikTok editing magic, but Bella's prosciutto crisped up way faster than mine. I began cooking it in the reserved pine nut-infused oil, but I needed to add much more oil to get it to a nice golden brown. I honestly could have even taken it even further, but the thinly sliced garlic was already toasted and approaching burnt, so I had to cut it short.

The final step in Bella Hadid's viral pasta recipe is adding the cooked spaghetti and reserved pine nuts. I realized that my pasta-to-sauce ratio was slightly off, so I added some pasta water to coat all the noodles. I finished it off with some Parmesan cheese, fresh basil, and black pepper.

The verdict? It's delicious! Even with my approximation of Bella's recipe, the spicy, garlicky sauce was flavorful and super-comforting. My esteemed panel of judges (a.k.a. my parents) loved the combo of the crispy prosciutto and toasted pine nuts.

However, we all agreed that the dish was begging for a bit of brightness. When (not if) I make this pasta again, I'll add some fresh lemon zest and a little lemon juice.

Between this and Gigi's spicy vodka pasta, I definitely want a seat at the Hadids' next dinner party. But while I wait around for an invite, I'll gladly incorporate both pasta recipes into my cooking rotation.
