As much as we love new flavors, sometimes it’s old offerings that we want the most. Mountain Dew may be doing just that, because the brand is reportedly bringing back its Revolution flavor this year. We know, we’re hoping this is really happening just as much as you are.

Mountain Dew Revolution was first introduced in 2007 as part of the first DEWmocracy social media campaign, as described by Mountain Dew Wiki. Fans helped design the Revolution, Supernova, and Voltage flavors and all three hit shelves in 2008. However, only one could stay with the votes of Dew drinkers, and Voltage won, followed by Supernova and Revolution. Revolution disappeared and returned in 2011 only for select winners to get their hands on. It’s been gone since then.

In case you didn’t get a chance to try this variety 13 years ago, you can expect “Dew infused with natural and artificial wild berry fruit flavor.” The soda has a pretty blue color, but don’t get it confused with Frost Bite or Liberty Brew.

Rumors began flying on Reddit, Facebook, and other social media sites in 2020 about how Mountain Dew Revolution would be making a comeback. The pictures that were going around were pictures of what appeared to be of a presentation on a computer monitor. So it looked like an internal presentation, which we’ve seen before with flavors like Major Melon before they became official.

We’re wary about rumored product releases, but Facebook page mtndewkid has us extremely hopeful that it’s going to happen with a very clear shot of the bottles. “A Revolutionary Comeback” will not only welcome back the Revolution flavor, but also a Zero Sugar version, which we know has been a major trend with recent Mountain Dew flavors. Based off of the imagery, it would be a limited-edition return. Womp, womp.

Again, we haven’t received official word from PepsiCo about whether Mountain Dew Revolution is really coming back to stores, so we’ll keep you updated as we learn more. For now, we’re just going to think positively and hope for the best!
