New mountain bike and trail organization being introduced through launch party

LEWISBURG, WV (WVNS) — The Greenbrier Valley Off-Road Biking Association is inviting the community to a launch party for a new non-profit organization.

Rate increases announced for Beckley Water Company customers

The event will be on Friday, May 3, 2024 at the Greenbrier Valley Visitors Center at 905 Washington St. West, Lewisburg, WV 24901 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.

Board members and partners of the association will be discussing plans and goals for this brand new non-profit organization. The mission of this organization is to create and make exceptional trail experiences for mountain bikers in the area.

People attending the party will learn about planned and future projects for the trails. Organizers will also speak about future outing plans, volunteer opportunities, and other benefits from being a member of GVORBA.

Guest speakers will also discuss what is happening in the Greenbrier County area and across the state when it comes to biking trails, competitions, and the impact on tourism in the state.

GVORBA is a local chapter of the International Mountain Bike Association (IMBA). This chapter works to make great trails throughout the U.S. from any type of background and experience, whether it be in your backyard or backcountry rural experiences.

“There’s never been a more exciting time to be a part of the mountain bike community in West Virginia. We look forward to sharing big announcements about what’s coming soon and what we think is possible. We hope lots of people come out and decide to join us,” says GVORBA chair, Sarah Elkins.

There will be donations from Hawk Knob Cidery, Greenbrier Valley Brewing Company, and the Country Vintner, along with beverages from GVORBA that will be serving at the event.
