Mount Blue Sky reservations to open Tuesday

MOUNT BLUE SKY, Colo. (KDVR) — The Mount Blue Sky Recreation Area is tentatively scheduled to open on May 31. Like many other recreation areas, timed reservations are required.

Reservations can be made on the website Recreation.gov starting Tuesday at 8 a.m., and reservations can be made up to 30 days before your visit.

Reservations are required between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. if you are planning to park and visit one of the three developed sites — Mount Goliath Natural Area, Summit Lake Park or the Mount Blue Sky Summit.

While Memorial Day weekend is usually Mount Blue Sky’s targeted opening date, many factors can delay the opening, from weather to road maintenance to staffing.

Clear Creek District Ranger Patsy McEntee told FOX31 that they decided to push the opening date off until the end of next week to minimize any potential weather impacts and to align better with seasonal employee start dates.
