From Town & Country

You mother... well, to state the obvious, she is your mother. And while that deserves tributes and adulation everyday, not just Mother's Day, there is a specific day dedicated to celebrating her and everything she has done for you. But if you can't take her out to brunch or dinner on Mother's Day 2020, or even if you're just virtually visiting because of social distancing measures, there are still a number of activities to keep you guys occupied and ensure that she has the best day possible.

Make Her Breakfast in Bed

Brunch was never the only option when it came to spoiling her silly and indulging her appetite. Lapse back to your childhood tradition of a surprise tray-served brekkie, complete with a piping hot cup of coffee served just the way she likes it, eggs, bacon, and any other fixing you can imagine. Bonus points for freshly squeezed orange juice.

Take Her on a Virtual Museum Visit or Tour

Sure, actual excursions may not be possible right now. But throw a little imagination into the mix, and maybe a glass of wine while you're at it, and you can take a tour of many museums, cultural institutions, and even landmarks all around the world from the comfort of your couch.

Make a spa day of it

You may not have an aesthetician on hand but that doesn't mean that some good old fashioned pampering is off the table. Whether you want to copy some of the old fashioned DIY beauty tricks of the Hollywood gliteratti, indulge in an at-home bespoke facial, including a peel, a hydrating mask, and a face massage, or maybe even an at-home mani-pedi, the day is rife with opportunities for self-care.

Have a happy hour

Maybe her favorite thing is to go out and have a cocktail with her girlfriends. Be the thoughtful child that you are, send out the recipe for her favorite sip, whether it's a martini, a cosmo, or a French 75 to her best friends along with a Zoom link, and then let the good times roll from there.

Tend the garden with her

If you are lucky enough to be at home with your mother on Mother's Day, then why not help her out while she tends to her greenery. Hey, she nurtured you for so many years, didn't she?

Start a Puzzle

There's no better bonding than a shared task. Order mom a gorgeous and artsy jigsaw puzzle and then have the whole family partake in constructing it. When you're done, glue it together and sign your names on the back—and then frame it. She'll cherish it forever. And every time she looks at it, she'll think of the experience she shared with all of you.

Take a bike ride or a nice long walk

If you live somewhere scenic and you can safely go outside, take her for a stroll or a hike. Or if she prefers biking, strap on a helmet and take her on a cycling excursion. Fresh air is always the answer.

Make a pizza and settle in for one of her favorite movies

Who doesn't love a movie night? Buy some pizza dough (or make it from scratch) and whip together a gourmet confection that you can nosh on while taking in one of her favorite flicks (or two)!

Do a yoga flow

Maybe you have a sporty mom and her idea of Mother's Day fun would have been taking a workout class together. It's still possible! Stream a yoga class and get your down dogs in, or raise your heart rate remotely with the streaming version of her favorite group workout.

Do some karaoke

Mom fancy herself an amateur chanteuse? Ensure yourselves a night of great tunes and better laughs as you belt your hearts out with a home karaoke machine. Add other family members via Zoom for even better laughs.
