Wendy Cruz-Chan was 19 weeks pregnant with her son, Killian, when he was stillborn after she contracted a rare uterus infection called chorioamnionitis. But even after this tragic ordeal, Cruz-Chan’s body was still producing milk.
Wanting to help others while working through her own grief, Cruz-Chan decided to donate her breast milk to infants who need it.

When interviewed about her inspiring story, Cruz-Chan told InsideEdition.com:
“I wanted to turn something tragic into something good. I realized through donating that it gave me a purpose to do something good to help me with the healing process. It just makes me feel good seeing all the babies I’ve been helping.”
The entire process was documented on social media to help normalize breast milk donation and raise awareness of the process. In total, Cruz-Chan was able to donate 2,000 ounces of breast milk!
Sadly, donating breast milk to babies in need is still highly stigmatized and few people jump in to help.
Hopefully, Cruz-Chan’s story can help bring more awareness and action to get more people involved.
