The Most Instagrammable Moments at Sephora's SEPHORiA House of Beauty Event

Sephora is a playground for beauty fiends all over the world. For brand founders, landing a coveted spot on the store’s shelves means you’ve made it. It's also a space where budding makeup artists hone their craft as cast members — just ask Priscilla Ono, Rihanna’s go-to girl and global makeup artist for Fenty Beauty, who got her start at the Disneyland location in Anaheim, California. For the pro, Sephora truly is a place where dreams come true.

“I learned so much so fast because we had so many clients that came in and we’d have to do so many makeovers relatively quickly,” Ono explained of mastering the ability to match foundation to every skin tone and accentuate any eye shape. “It really helped mold me into the makeup artist I am today.”

Ono came full circle this weekend at SEPHORiA, a three-floor extravaganza in downtown Los Angeles dedicated to all things beauty. She had plans to meet up with her former coworker from her Disney days before teaching a masterclass alongside other beauty stars like hairstylist and Ouai founder Jen Atkin and contour king Mario Dedivanovic.

As a fellow beauty editor described, the event was like the Museum of Ice Cream meets makeup in that there was Instagrammable content around every corner. Chrissy Teigen served up her latest collection for Becca in "The Kitchen," while Tatcha founder Vicky Tsai treated ticketholders to a Kyoto-inspired escape covered with flowers. Touchups from Benefit Cosmetics, Drybar, and Sephora artists were available on the upper level and a glitter-laden dance party was on deck downstairs, with DJs like Kitty Cash and Mia Carucci spinning sets from until midnight.

In addition to countless photo-friendly moments and makeup workshops, there were plenty of opportunities to make a purchase. Pat McGrath reissued her Lust 004 glitter lip kits exclusively for the event, while Fenty Beauty gave fans a sneak peek of Fairy Bomb Shimmer Powder. Attendees could create custom shadow palettes with a multitude of brands ranging from Nars to Make Up For Ever; Bite Lip Lab set up shop for those who wanted to take home a bespoke lipstick as a souvenir; and an area dubbed "The Beauty Closet" was stocked with limited-edition SEPHORiA merch.

The two-day celebration no doubt posed the same challenge Ono experienced while working at Sephora: “The toughest thing was saving my money when I got paid because all I wanted to do was shop. I got a discount, I saw every new product, and I wanted everything.”

For beauty fanatics on a budget, there was no shortage of free inspiration throughout the halls of the former bank. Natasha Denona, a makeup artist known for her eye shadow palettes, flew in from Israel (one of the few countries where Sephora has yet to make its mark) for the event and perhaps summed up the crowd best: “In America, makeup is so much fun — here, anything goes!”

With over 60 brands on display, it was definitely tough to choose, but here are seven of our favorite Instagrammable moments from SEPHORiA.
