These are the most ‘Instagrammable’ landmarks of Missouri and Illinois

(KTVI) – There’s certainly a thrill that comes with posting an Instagram photo that goes viral. In some cases, where you take that photo can help that cause.

BonusFinder.com recently released a list of the most “Instagrammable” landmarks in every U.S. state. These destinations are widely popular in their states because of their aesthetic appeal and picturesque qualities.

Bonus Finder’s research team analyzed Instagram trends more than 2,700 landmarks, ultimately naming the most “Instagrammable” spot in each state based on hashtags. The top spots include a mix of places with strong cultural and historical significance, in addition to captivating backdrops.

Missouri

The most “Instagrammable” landmark in Missouri is the Lake of the Ozarks, according to Bonus Finder. It came out on top with more than 352,000 Instagram hashtags.

Lake of the Ozarks was established in 1929 through construction of the Bagnell Dam and officially opened to the public in 1931. It covers more than 54,000 acres of surface area and was once considered one of the largest manmade lakes in the world. The Lake of the Ozarks region consists of Camden, Miller and Morgan counties in mid-Missouri.

Illinois

The most “Instagrammable” landmark in Illinois is Wrigley Field, according to Bonus Finder. It came out on top with more than 557,000 Instagram hashtags.

Wrigley Field is the home of Major League Baseball’s Chicago Cubs. The venue first opened in 1914 and is older than every other MLB ballpark aside from Boston’s Fenway Park. The Secretary of the Interior officially designated Wrigley Field as a national landmark in 2020.
