This Is the Most Comfortable Sweater in My Closet, and Yes, It's From Target

While I have plenty of retailers that I love, I've found that one of the first sites I typically visit when I'm searching for something new for my closet is Target — and this has been going on for years. Whether I'm shopping for clothes, shoes, or even a strapless and backless bra, I've found the quality, fit, and style of the products to be (almost) unmatched. Plus, the affordable price points also make me feel like my Target shopping habit is actually a positive.

I tend to keep my clothes for season after season, but every year I do tend to add at least a few new pieces to my wardrobe. This year, I was searching for a new tunic sweater that was wool-free (I'm allergic), yet still warm enough to stand up to the sometimes frigid temperatures I experience living outside of Philadelphia. But I also wanted the sweater to not have too much bulk and to be more of a tunic length. Target delivered again (no surprise there, really) with this easy-to-style A New Day under-$30 sweater.

The majority of the sweaters I own are solid neutral colors, so I was pleasantly surprised to see the cozy crewneck sweater was available in black or pink stripes as well as solid colors, like light green, light yellow, and rust. I decided to order the pink striped one because I love wearing color, especially when it's dreary and cold outside. Other than the color, I was also thrilled to see the sweater is made from 60 percent cotton and 40 percent acrylic, which meant I would avoid the itchiness of wool.

When my sweater arrived, I immediately loved the fit. Target describes it as "relaxed," which can look too large on my 5-foot-2-inch frame. Because I sometimes run in between sizes, I decided to size down for a not-too-boxy fit — and I was right. Rather than hitting at my waist like other sweaters, this pullover ends at my hips as it should. Because it's a bit longer, I've found it's as easy to style with jeans and booties as it is to wear with a pair of leggings and Uggs — and other Target shoppers agree.

"Well made, cute detailing with the white edges, and is thick enough to wear alone," wrote one five-star reviewer. Another shopper echoed my thoughts about the sizing: "Great medium weight cotton sweater. Definitely meant to be a looser fit so if between sizes, I'd size down. I usually wear a medium or large and the medium is a perfect fit. Still have plenty of room."

Between the fit, the ribbing, and the slits on either side, I've found I keep reaching for this machine washable A New Day striped crewneck sweater. Target, definitely, strikes again.
