What is it about famous outdoor landmarks that just seem to attract, well, kooks? How many times have you seen videos of lifeguards politely (or impolitely) shewing away people from paddling out at Pipeline who have absolutely no idea what they’re doing?

Be it Pipeline, Everest, or a place like Corbet’s Couloir in Jackson Hole, if people hear about it or see it on YouTube, they think they need to ride it or climb it in the name of the selfie. No matter how inexperienced they are. The only difference is, at Corbet’s, unlike Pipeline, there’s no lifeguard to stop the fanny pack wearing masses from hurtling themselves off the cliff.

Well, at least all the carnage makes for good entertainment, even if there isn’t all that much thought put in to descending one of the most famous inbounds couloirs in North America. There is of course the Kings and Queens of Corbet’s, where capable skiers and riders show the world how it’s done.

But for the rest of the year, people step to the plate that probably shouldn’t. And there are iPhones to capture the results. Hence the point of this brief news hit: Jerry of the Day, one the world’s favorite keepers of all things sacred on snow, just released an edit of the best carnage footage captured from Corbet’s in 2023-2024. And what a season it was.

“COUNT IT! Some of the hardest charging moments Corbet’s Couloir has ever produced,” wrote the folks at JOTD. “It takes some serious guts to send it straight off the front, but to know you’re going to tomahawk down the entire run – now that’s next-level grit. #FirstTeamAllJerry”

Yeah, leave it to us humans to step to things we shouldn’t. That’s the nature of send though. We have a natural tendency to want to ride things above our pay grade. But as mentioned, thanks to the Silicon Valley gods, we’re now blessed with pocket cameras to record the action.
