Morgan Freeman just reenacted a famous scene from “The Shawshank Redemption,” but it got a lot meaner
When we think of great narration, Morgan Freeman definitely comes to mind. His voice is recognizable as God in Bruce Almighty, or from March of the Penguins. But the classic film, The Shawshank Redemption, was the first movie where Freeman could show off his narrative abilities. He was asked to perform a Shawshank-like monologue on The Graham Norton Show. Instead of talking about jail or penguins, it was about Graham and his show. And the result was hilarious, of course.
“I must admit I didn’t think much of Graham Norton first time I laid eyes on him,” Freeman started. “I could see why some people took him for annoying.”
It got even meaner (in a funny sort of way.)
Morgan continued to poke fun at Graham. He also pointed out how he is also asked constantly to do narration for films. It was all in good fun. Graham and Michael Caine laughed the whole time. Cain and Freeman are staring together in the movie Going in Style, which is in theaters now.
“And boy did he drink,” Freeman continued. “He drank like a man without a care or worry in the world. I hope to finish this talk show one day. I hope Michael [Caine] stops talking for just one second.”
He finished the monologue with “I hope people stop asking me to do stupid voiceovers like this. I hope.” We’re glad that Freeman can have a great sense of humor about the constant requests for his voice. And we hope that he continues to lend his perfect voice to everything!

Of course, this wasn’t the first time Freeman has been asked to put his narrative talents to work for laughs. Last year, he brought down the house on Jimmy Kimmel Live! when he narrated the unwitting journey of a pedestrian with a selfie stick.
Morgan Freeman’s voice should have its own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
