More bad news for Yellowstone fans—production on the Paramount+ prequel series 1923 is delayed indefinitely due to the current writers' strike. The show, which films in Butte, Montana was going into season 2 with both Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren set to return as Jacob and Cara Dutton, respectively.

The prequel series to the popular Yellowstone series on Paramount Network and follows the Dutton clan as they settle in Montana on what later becomes the Dutton Ranch. It streams exclusively on Paramount+.

The show follows 1883, another Yellowstone prequel series that chronicles James (Tim McGraw) and Margaret Dutton (Faith Hill) as they make their way across treacherous terrain filled with dangerous foes to claim a stake and make a new life for their family. 1883 is normally only available to stream on Paramount+ but amid the writers' strike, the series is currently airing on Paramount Network. The series premiered on the linear network on June 18 and new episodes will drop weekly. 1883 garnered a SAG award for Sam Elliott, who plays Shea on the show.

The second half of Season 5 of Yellowstone was originally scheduled to premiere in November but due to the current writer's strike, production on the back half of season 5 has yet to begin so it's unclear at this point whether the show will return in November. It was announced that season 5 of Yellowstone is set to be its final season.

Productions across all networks have seen delays due to the writers' strike including the final season of Stranger Things, all late night talk shows, Abbott Elementary, and Yellowjackets.
