More Than 140 Vegetable Products Have Been Recalled Due to Possible Listeria Contamination
Take a peek in your refrigerator and see if you have one of the over 140 vegetable products that have been recalled for possible listeria contamination in grocery stores across the United States and Canada. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the recall of products from Mann Packing Co., Inc. on Sunday. Currently, no illnesses associated with these products have been reported.

The recalled products include, but are not limited to, pre-packaged broccoli florets, vegetable trays, nourish bowls, vegetable medleys, cauliflower rice, shaved Brussels sprouts, salad mixes, and stir-fry medleys. Affected brands include Del Monte, HEB, HEB Organic, Hungryroot, Kroger Organic, Mann's, Marketside, Marketside Organics, O Organics, Signature Farms, Sysco, and Trader Joe's. The recalled products have a "Best If Enjoyed By" date of October 11, 2019 through November 16, 2019. The manufacturer said it is cooperating with health officials to investigate.
Listeria monocytogenes is a strain of bacteria that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in people with weak immune systems, particularly children and elderly adults. However, otherwise healthy individuals may still experience short-term symptoms such as a high fever, severe headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, according to the FDA. Listeria may also cause miscarriages and stillbirths for pregnant women.
