More Than 100,000 Bottles of Mouthwash Sold Nationwide Are Being Recalled Due to Potential Poisoning Risks

Check your mouthwash—about 102,100 bottles of the Heritage Store hydrogen peroxide mouthwash have been recalled, according to a release by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

The recalled mouthwash contains ethanol in a concentration that must be must be in child-resistant packaging, as required by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA), CPSC states. The packaging of the recalled product is not child-resistant and poses a risk of poisoning if the contents are swallowed.

According to CPSC, this recall specifically effects Wintermint and Eucalyptus Mint flavors. The bottles are a dark opaque brown with a white lid. The pink-and-white label on the front displays the Heritage Store logo, as well as the product name and flavor. All lot numbers are included in the recall.

The mouthwash was sold at Whole Foods, Fresh Thyme Farmers Market, Mom’s Organic Market, New Season’s Market, Mother’s Market & Kitchen, and other stores nationwide and online at Amazon and other websites. It was sold from October 2010 through December 2023.

Although no injuries have been reported thus far, CPSC is urging consumers to place the mouthwash in a safe location out of reach and sight of children, and to contact Nutraceutical Corporation for a full refund or replacement product. The brand is currently contacting all known purchasers directly to inform them of the recall.
