Moose Charges Down Slopes at Jackson Hole Much to Skiers' Disbelief

A skier in Jackson Hole, Wyoming probably had no idea that they were going to see a moose when they were going down a ski run recently. But that's exactly what happened. Not only did they spot the majestic animal as they went down the slopes, but the moose was at a sprint running down the hill too, making for a truly incredible experience.

This has to be something that pretty much never happens. So we're so thankful that the skier pulled out their camera and got the whole thing on camera.

USA TODAY reports the video was shot by skier Kenny Rynearson, who seemed positively amazed at what he was seeing.

"Heads up! Moose!" Rynearson can be heard yelling in the clip later shared by ABC News. The man was trying to warn fellow skiers and snowboards of the charging animal that was probably not there to work on its snowboarding skills.

Thankfully, no one was hurt. All of the skiers and snowboarders managed to keep out of the animals way.

"Go faster!" he yelled from behind the camera, while people either slowed or sped up to get away from the Moose.

"Unbelievable," someone else yells.

However there were some close calls.

"I caught a little bit of air and the moose was within 10 feet of me," Rynearson's friend, snowboarder Bill Fohey, told Good Morning America. "I was moving pretty fast."

He said that in the moment he felt "surprised" about what he was seeing. "Knowing that those types of animals can be very aggressive — especially out in the wild," he added.

At one point Fohey said the moose was bolting too close to Kenny for comfort. Thankfully by the end of the video the moose veered off and everyone appeared to make it out safely.

What Kinds of Animals Do People See While Skiing?

This was definitely a unique experience, but there are plenty of other animals to see out and about while on the slopes. Some animals are big, while others are pretty tiny. Like minks! Minks can often be seen in many ski areas across the United States.

Mountain Goats are another animal that you can see while away on holiday. These animals can often be seen scaling high mountains, like in Big Sky, Montana.

Lynx are a rare sight, but are still something you can see while skiing. Lynx have thick fur and tufted ears, so that they can brave those bitter cold temperatures.

People online were shocked by Rynearson's most recent encounter with the moose. "The last thing a beginner skier wants to hear is 'Go Faster,'" joked one person. "He’s just having fun in his backyard," someone else kidded. "The moose is just in a silly goofy mood," a third commenter teased.

It's just good that everyone managed to get away safely — we shudder to think about what could have happened otherwise.
