Montgomery Parks welcomes spring with new events

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Spring is in full swing and Montgomery Parks is hosting several events to get you and your family outside and enjoy nature.

“It’s a great opportunity to get out in nature and enjoy some of your hobbies,” said Megan DeMillo, Special Events Supervisor for Montgomery Parks.

Roller Disco is one of the many upcoming events with Montgomery Parks – it will be hosted on May 17 at Ridge Road Rec Park in Germantown.

“Make sure you wear your best bell bottoms and tie-dye and come out and roller skate and boogie down to a live DJ,” said DeMillo.

The event is for all ages, but you do have to bring your own skates. If roller skating is not for you, there are plenty of other events, such as Acoustics and Ales.

The last Acoustics and Ales of the season is May 23 at Flower Avenue Urban Park in Silver Spring.

It will feature music by La Unica, and have food vendors and local breweries.

“Enjoy the music, have dinner, socialize with your neighbor,” said Demillo. “It’s also the Thursday before Memorial Day Weekend, so you can kick off your long weekend with us at Montgomery Parks.”
