Montana Ski Resort Experiencing "Second Winter" After Snowstorm
The end of March typically signals a dreaded realization- the ski season is slowly, but surely, coming to an end.
Temperatures are warming and the sun is shining longer each day, but Mother Nature isn't quite done with Montana's Whitefish Mountain Resort. Check out the video below of a skier experiencing "second winter" following 7 inches of overnight snow.
Whitefish confirmed in the comments that the video was filmed this morning, March 22nd, 2024.
It's been a rough season for natural snowfall for most of Montana's ski areas and resorts, but 7 inches of the light fluffy stuff is a nice consolation.
The resort has totaled just 219 inches of snow to date, about 80 inches less than their reported average of 300 inches, but paying caring too much about seasonal averages can be a detriment to fun.
If you automatically assume that a mountain with below-average snowfall isn't skiing well, think again. The video above proves that while the moguls weren't completely covered up at Whitefish, they were soft and powdery this morning.
What more could you ask for at the end of March?
The resort is expected to see accumulating flurries and small showers that could deposit a few inches throughout the week. It will be a welcomed gift for skiers looking to score small refreshes and soak up the last drops of 'Second Winter.'
Enjoy it while you can, friends! Remember, skiing is about having fun, nothing more and nothing less.
Petty things like total snowfall, temperature, and weather patterns don't matter as much as you think they do. Just get out there and ski (or ride)!
