Chesapeake

Chesapeake Arts Festival

Saturday, April 20 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, April 21 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Chesapeake City Park, 900 City Park Drive

Over 130 artists, local and out-of-state, will showcase their pieces. See the talent in their works through a variety of mediums such as wood, paintings, glass and ceramics. Artists will be competing for various awards including Best In Show. Enjoy demonstrations, a children’s craft activity tent, live music and more. There will be adult beverages available for purchase. The Deloreans will play on Sunday from noon to 3:30 p.m.

Hampton

Hampton Mosaic Festival

Saturday, April 20 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Mill Point Park, 100 Eaton Street

The festival celebrates history, art, music and dance. According to the event it “seeks to create a unified experience reflective of the strength and beauty of our land.” Last year was the inaugural event. Expect the same uniting of residents this year, with cuisine, performances, demonstrations, live art and camaraderie. Monster Jam®

April 19-21 at Hampton Coliseum, 1000 Coliseum Drive

Monster Jam® is back at the Hampton Coliseum. Watch drivers and their 12,000 pound monster trucks in an intense competition. They will showcase crazy skills in the dirt. See popular trucks like Grave Digger®, El Toro Loco® and Megalodon®. Doors open one hour before each show. If you purchase Pit Party passes, doors will open at 10:30 a.m. Show times:

Norfolk

Virginia International Tattoo

April 18-21 at Scope Arena, 201 E Brambleton Ave

This year is the 27th annual Virginia International Tattoo. With over 800 performers, bands and drills teams from the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps as well as civilian and military performers from 7 nations will perform. This year is a “Celebration of Freedom” with the NATO 75th anniversary and 80 year anniversary of the D-Day landings.

The Virginia International Tattoo American Pipe Band Championship will take place on Saturday, April 20 at noon at Scope Plaza. The contest features the largest gathering of the best pipe bands in the Eastern United States. It will be judged by an international panel. It will run until 5 p.m. The massed band performances and award ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. It is free and open to the public.

Virginia International Tattoo

71st Annual Parade of Nations

Saturday, April 20 at 10 a.m. in Downtown Norfolk

Come out and take part in the only parade in the U.S. that honors NATO. There will be over 100 parade units including bands, military units, community groups and floats representing all NATO member nations. Reserved seating is available for purchase. 15th Annual Taste of India

Saturday, April 20 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Chartway Arena, 4320 Hampton Blvd.

Back again, the Annual Taste of India will have a full day of culture. Enjoy food, clothing, jewelry, performances and more. It features Bollywood and Classical dances, Indian cuisine, vendor booths, clothing, hand crafted items and henna hand painting. For kids, there will be carnival games. Admission to the event and parking is free.

Earth Day at Smartmouth

Saturday, April 20 from 2-6 p.m. at Smartmouth Beer, 1309 Raleigh Avenue

Celebrate Mother Earth with live music, vendors, activities and a community bike ride. There will be DIY plant-themed activities like paint your own pot and prop swap. Bike the Elizabeth River Trail on the community bike ride and distribute seeds while you ride. Captain & The Deal will perform from 2-5 p.m. Ghost Kitchen will be on-site for food. The event is free and open to all.

Portsmouth

70th Annual Portsmouth Invitational Tournament (P.I.T.)

April 17-20 at Churchland High School, 4301 Cedar Lane

In the 70th annual tournament, see 64 of the top prospects put their skills to the test before pro scouts. Games will be played all weekend long. Click here to see the full team and player list. Suffolk Earth and Arts Festival

Saturday, April 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Historic Downtown Suffolk on North Main Street

Historic Downtown Suffolk will host a day of activity on North Main Street. There will be over 130+ vendors from local artisans to farmers and more. Enjoy live music all day long, family-friendly events, and shopping. There will be face painting, dance performances and games for all ages. The event is free and open to the public. 2024 Earth Day Celebration

East Coast She-Crab Soup Classic

Saturday, April 20 from noon to 2:30 p.m. at 24th Street Park

Try some of the region’s best she-crab soup as they compete. The region’s best restaurants will be in the competition. Attendees will sample and cast votes for the “People’s Choice Awards”. Last year, CP Shuckers Oceanfront took first place in the “Critics’ Choice Award” and Entre Nous Virginia Beach took first place in the “Sean Brickell Peoples’ Choice Award”. Village Family’s Spring Community Day
