Monster Energy To Host New Pro Downhill Racing Series In The United States

The United States now officially has a premier professional downhill series. Monster Energy announced the new four-stop downhill championship series at the very end of last year.

The series is set to debut this season starting on April 5th in Rock Creek, North Carolina and is being touted as the first proper domestic national championship series in the U.S.

Take a look at the official announcement below.

"This new US Mountain Bike Championship features pro and amateur classes and will consist of four events, including the Fox US OPEN. Get ready for a true National Championship points chase!

2024 Monster Energy Pro Downhill Series:

• Apr 5-7: Ride Rock Creek, NC

• May 24-26: Mountain Creek, NJ

• Aug 16-18: California Venue TBA

• Sep 26-29: Fox US OPEN at Killington Resort" - Monster Energy Pro DH Series press release via Instagram

This series has been in the works for a while and it is good to finally see a domestic downhill series that should ideally set up and coming U.S. racers up for success on the world stage.

Clay Harper, the series director, said via Vital MTB's press release, “Starting with the US OPEN, we have been working to build a national downhill series for a few years and with the support of Monster Energy and other key partners we are proud to launch the Monster Energy Pro Downhill Series in 2024. Collectively, the regional race series have done an incredible job growing the sport of downhill in the US, especially in the youth categories. Our mission is to develop a consistent national level race platform that athletes and the entire industry can continue to grow with.”

This new national series in conjunction with the Downhill Southeast series and Northwest Cup creates a pretty considerable downhill racing circuit in the United States, granted it is geographically limited at the moment. The goal of the Monster Downhill Series is to overcome those geographical limitations though. Harper said this about the future of the program, “Our plan is to create a more geographically balanced national series over the next few years."

We look forward to seeing the U.S. downhill scene grow throughout the next few years and see that growth translate to podiums on the world stage.
