In episode one of season four, Monica talked about being a Federal Government witness against the show’s former star, Jen Shah, who is serving prison time for pleading guilty to a criminal conspiracy charge in 2022. A few episodes later, Monica shared that she had been involved in an 18-month-long affair with her brother-in-law but we were given very little information other than that. Now, we have more details. Here’s what we know about Monica’s brother-in-law from RHOSLC.

Who is Monica’s brother-in-law from RHOSLC?

Who is Monica’s brother-in-law from RHOSLC? Monica said he was her “husband’s sister—her husband” and after some digging, The Sun found him to be Jared Taylor, a 42-year-old fire chief from Ogden, Utah. According to a Weber Fire District Facebook post, he graduated from Weber State’s Law Enforcement Academy in May 2019 and has since been promoted. He currently serves as the Division Chief for Weber Fire District. He also has four children, just like Monica.

On season 4, episode 2 of RHOSLC, Monica revealed that she’d been excommunicated from the Mormon community for “f—cking my brother-in-law for 18 months.” She said she’d been “shunned from everyone, and literally unwelcome everywhere.” Monica described being “tagged” in this way as “truly one of the worst experiences of my life.” Jared, meanwhile, suffered no consequences for the affair.  “They never excommunicate the men,” Heather said.

Monica married her now ex-husband, Mike Garcia, back in 2009. Two years later, in 2013, Monica filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences,” but they eventually called off their split. Jared, meanwhile, split from his wife in 2014. He remarried, but they broke up in November 2022.

Mike and Monica filed for divorce again but not because of her infidelity. “My ex and I are great co-parents together,” Monica noted. “He is a wonderful dad and provider and we just weren’t good together and that’s OK. He calls and checks on me. He’ll see something in the news and he’ll get defensive and be like, ‘That’s not even true!’ I am the mother of his children and we’ll always love and respect each other because of that,” she told E! in October 2023.

In The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 4 finale, Monica, who joined as a cast member in the current season, was revealed to be behind the reality TV Instagram fan account Reality Von Tease, which has dozens of posts slamming former cast member Jen Shah, as well as the rest of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City cast.

“Monica is not who she says she is,” Heather told Whitney, Lisa, and Meredith in the finale. “She’s not our friend. She’s someone that has schemed and worked to infiltrate our friend group. And the name that you all know her as, the woman whose birthday was celebrated, who we’ve been trying to champion and support and defend is Reality Von Tease.”

She continued, “The real Monica is someone who really doesn’t want to be our friend but wants to profit from our lives and our pain.”

In a confessional interview, Heather explained that Reality Von Tease was “created over three years ago” with a mission to destroy the cast. “[It] was dedicated to annihilating and exposing Jen Shah, but it quickly expanded to troll all of us: me, Whitney, Meredith, Lisa. These were character assassinations,” Heather said. “We never knew who it was.”

After The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 4 finale, viewers accused Monica of deleting posts from Reality Von Tease’s account that appeared in the show. Read on for what we know about the alleged Reality Von Tease deleted RHOSLC posts and what Monica has said since The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 4 finale bombshell.
