Moment Duck Accepts Fertilized Chicken Eggs As Her Own Is So Touching

The thought of losing a child is unbearable, especially for those who are already parents. That's why it's so easy to empathize with this sweet mama duck who recently lost her eggs to a snake. The poor girl has been sitting in an empty nest for weeks!

Since the duck's mate passed away recently, the next best way she could become a mom is by caring for someone else's fertilized eggs. @Tianawana held her breath as she gave the chicken eggs to her duck, but the mama-to-be was immediately smitten.

How sweet is she? We love how curious yet gentle this duck is with her new eggs. She knew immediately that they needed tenderness and warmth, and she stepped right up to the plate. It couldn't matter less that the eggs came from a chicken!

"Thank you for giving her a chance at being a wonderful mama," wrote commenter @valeria12bans34. She's going to thrive in her new role! It's clear that her motherly instincts are strong AF if she's been nursing an empty nest this whole time, so her babies are more lucky than they'll realize.

We're so curious to see how the true introduction goes when the chicks hatch and discover just how different their mama is. Will they grow up thinking they're ducklings? It'll be a while before we get answers to any of our burning questions, but we do not doubt that Christiana will give updates whenever she can.

@Allysonnickiduvallsutton said it best when she wrote, "I hope the algorithm brings me back for a pt 2." We'll see you then!
