Mom Wears Her Daughter’s Prom Dress to a Birthday Party
Repurposing Mom’s vintage prom dress is nothing new, but one mother did the opposite and rocked her daughter’s prom dress for a night out on the town.
“So my mom and Rick went to a prom-themed party with their friends and wore my old dress,” a Las Vegas teen named Kailee Johnson, 18, who tweeted under the handle @_Kales, wrote on Sunday, adding underneath several photos, “Happy Mother’s Day to this beauty.”

In the images, Kailee’s mom, Michele Johnson, is wearing a strapless dress with a white beaded bodice and blue tulle skirt. She’s posing with her boyfriend, Rick.
“My friend threw a prom-themed birthday party for herself in a gymnasium with a photo booth and everything,” Michele, 47, tells Yahoo Style. “I wasn’t about to spend money on a new dress after throwing down $300 a pop for my daughter’s dresses all these years, so I decided to wear hers.”
Michele and Kailee had purchased the dress at a bridal boutique when Kailee was in 10th grade and rediscovered it one day while Kailee was cleaning out her room. “She was excited for me to wear it,” says Michele. “Kailee even bought me roses before the prom.”
