Mom and Dad Cardinal Teach Baby Bird to Fly in Beautiful Video

As predictable as the world can be (sometimes, anyway), you never truly know what you'll see when you venture outdoors. Your favorite flower might be in bloom, or you might notice a new animal resident in your neighborhood.

Animal lover and Texas UPS driver @aaroncale sees all kinds of fascinating animals on his daily routes, but one special moment between a family of cardinals made him stop and watch. After all, it's not every day you get to watch cardinal parents teaching their baby bird to fly!

This is such a cool thing to witness! Clearly, none of the birds minded having an audience, either. It may have taken a second for the baby bird to use his wings, but I think it's so cool that both parent cardinals were right there to help if needed, especially since not all birds remain as a family after mating!

In fact, male cardinals are known for their wonderful fatherly skills. They tend to care for the fledglings even after the female leaves her young to find the couple's next nesting site. These birds mate for life, too, so they've had time to find the best way to divide parental tasks. Team work makes the dream work!

Late spring and early summer are known as the fledgling season for many species, so you might get the chance to spy on a precious moment like this, too. Setting up a bird feeder will help attract birds to your yard if you enjoy their company, too.

Remember to enjoy the cuteness from a distance like this animal-loving delivery driver did! If you're lucky, you just might witness a baby bird's most special milestone.
