Model Anastasiya Zayika Responds To London Photographers Who Claim She Made Racist Remarks

She was accused at London Fashion Week.

Model Anastasiya Zayika is denying a claim that she made a racist remark to two black photographers during London Fashion Week. Yesterday, one of the photographers claimed that the model posed for a street style photo but refused to reveal her Instagram handle to them because they were black.

According to an Instagram post published yesterday by David Nyanzi, he asked Anastasiya what her Instagram handle was so it could accompany a photograph he captured of her. The model, who is represented by Spot 6, allegedly responded, “I don’t give my Instagram to black people,” before allegedly walking away from the photographers and, according to him, proceeding to give another non-black photographer her Instagram handle.

The next day, Anastasiya took to her account to deny the incident. Alongside a photo with the word racism crossed out in red she wrote, "A photographer, during London fashion week had taken my picture and asked to have my Instagram name, I politely explained to him my Instagram is private and I rather not disclose it." She went on to accuse the photographer of lying and said he did it perhaps as a way to further his career and get his name out.

While she thanked many people for supporting her in the post, the incident still gained significant attention on social media with some commenters labeling the model “racist” and “disgusting." Photographer Abdiwali Samatar, the other black photographer who was allegedly denied the model’s information, wrote about his decision to share the story stating that he did it “so other Black Photographers or any other Black People [will] be aware of this racist lady.”

Teen Vogue has reached out to Spot 6 for a comment but has not received a response.
