Mobile WIC unit comes to High Point

Apr. 22—HIGH POINT — The Guilford County Division of Public Health will roll out its WIC on wheels today in High Point.

The division's Women, Infants and Children Program has launched a mobile unit traveling into communities offering eligible clients services such as nutrition education, breastfeeding support and referrals to health care and community resources. The stop for the new WIC mobile unit will be on the grounds of the High Point Public Library at 901 N. Main St. from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

The mobile clinic will return for Family Fun Day on May 3 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at High Point City Lake Park at 602 W. Main St. in Jamestown.

The mobile unit will be staffed by nutritionists and WIC eligibility caseworkers who can provide a full range of WIC services. New and current participants may use the services, and clients can schedule appointments or walk-up to the clinic.

"Our mobile unit will meet Guilford County residents where they are, bringing services to participants who otherwise may face barriers such as lack of transportation, child care or flexibility in their work schedules," said Erin Cashwell, Guilford County WIC director.

In addition to the mobile unit, the WIC program is available at the division's office in High Point at 501 E. Green Drive Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information about the WIC program, call the High Point office at 336-641-7571.
