Mobile County Animal Shelter Mother’s Day event features free and low-cost adoptions

MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — Animal lovers could bring home a new family member this week as the Mobile County Animal Shelter is preparing to host its annual “Are you my mother?” Mother’s Day adoption event.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mobile County Animal Shelter.

Event attendees can check out the adoptable dogs and puppies, enjoy a cookout, snow cones, kids activities and more.

Mobile County officials said the event’s goal is to move the adoptable animals out of the shelter by encouraging public adoptions.

According to a Mobile County release, over 40 adult dogs are fully sponsored, meaning no adoption fees, and 17 puppies that are partially sponsored, meaning $40 or less in adoption fees.

Officials said many adoptable adult dogs and puppies ready to adopt have already been spayed or neutered and can go to their forever homes at the event.
