Gucci and Louis Vuitton may have the South of France, but last night Prada had Manhattan, and, taking advantage of the local population, lots and lots of stars. Actors including Uma Thurman, Gary Oldman, Claire Danes, Tracee Ellis Ross, Sarah Paulson, Chloe Sevigny; directors in the form of David O. Russell and Baz Luhrmann; the designers Raf Simons and Marc Jacobs; and the writer Zadie Smith all descended on the company's Herzog and de Meuron-designed headquarters in a former piano factory on a distant block of West 52nd Street. After watching a Resort 2019 show that revived the kind of clothes that made Miuccia Prada famous two decades ago—ciao, ugly prints—they sat down to a dinner by Bergamo's Michelen-starred chef Chicco Cerea at mirror-lined tables that reflected their collective glow.
