Missing the West Palm Beach GreenMarket? During the off-season, try The Mini, a pop-up version

This is “Small Bites,” a South Florida Sun Sentinel feature with tiny tidbits on the food and beverage scene — because we know that sometimes you just don’t have room for a long article. You want a little news brief instead, an amuse bouche of information, if you will. Enjoy!

WHAT:

Missing the West Palm Beach GreenMarket? Yes, the award-winning market wrapped its season in April, but now there’s The Mini, a smaller pop-up version that you may visit every Thursday through June.

The Mini, presented as part of the concert series Clematis by Night, has returned for a second year to the downtown Waterfront Commons area featuring a sampling of the GreenMarket’s vendors, typically featuring fruit, vegetables, cheeses, beverages, plants, spices and more.

“The West Palm Beach GreenMarket is one of our most popular events,” says West Palm Beach Mayor Keith A. James. “At the heart of the GreenMarket is a strong sense of community and community support, so much so that vendors and marketgoers are sad when we must pause for summer.

“As such, we’ve heard everyone’s feedback, and we are excited to bring back The Mini, our summer version of our award-winning GreenMarket.”

The awards he’s referencing include “Best Farmers Market” by USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Poll and the designation of No. 1 green market in Florida by Cooking Light magazine. (By the way, the full GreenMarket is scheduled to start is 30th season on Saturday, Oct. 5.)

The Thursday pop-ups are “the perfect transition before we need to pause for the rest of the summer,” said Mary Pinak, West Palm Beach’s community events manager. “And we are grateful for everyone’s enthusiasm to bring back The Mini.”
