The feisty first single from Pistol Annies' new album Interstate Gospel, "Got My Name Changed Back," made headlines when it was released-mainly because it called to mind frontwoman Miranda Lambert's own split from ex-husband Blake Shelton.

With lyrics like "I played to win, lookin' back is funny; I broke his heart and I took his money," the country singer and her bandmates Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley addressed divorce in a lighthearted way, yet one that resonated with fans.

And now, the ladies are opening up about the story behind the song.

"It's a way of reclaiming your humor after you've been so sad and heartbroken," Miranda explains in a video released on the group's YouTube channel. "To me it's celebrating reclaiming that part of yourself."

"I think it's so important for us to tackle real issues and talk about stuff we've been through in our lives with a spin of humor," adds Ashley, who co-wrote the track with Angaleena. "I love to laugh-I think it's important."

Pistol Annies performed the tune live at the 2018 CMA Awards to wide acclaim; Blake did not attend the awards show.

"We wrote this song and then I told them: 'Man, there's a lot of people right now who are going through divorces, and they can't find the silver lining," Ashley continued in the video. "And they're going to be so happy when they hear this. They'll be able to dance and maybe smile for the first time in a while."
