Miranda Lambert Jokes About Getting Married During Her Time Off
That’s one way to spend a sabbatical! Miranda Lambert is finally back at the mic after nearly a year out of the limelight, and the country singer can’t help but laugh at all that’s come to pass in the last few months.
During an interview with Chicago radio station US 99.5 FM on Monday, July 1, the two-time Grammy winner acknowledged that she’s undergone a lot of life changes since she last toured. “They’re not going to let me have eight months off ever again because I get married and do weird s–t,” she said while adding, “I had the longest break I’ve ever had in 17 years—this year, the last year—so I’m a little nervous [to be back].”
Lambert, 35, married her beau, New York City Police Department officer Brendan McLoughlin, on January 26, though she waited a few weeks until revealing the surprise announcement via Instagram on Valentine’s Day.
“I met the love of my life,” she captioned the photos announcing their new married status. “And we got hitched! My heart is full. Thank you Brendan McLoughlin for loving me for … me. #theone.”
McLoughlin, 28, and Lambert met last November while she was on the set of Good Morning America for a performance with her country trio, Pistol Annies. McLoughlin was assigned to work the event and the sparks flew from there. (Memorably, just three days after their first meeting, McLoughling welcomed a son Landon with his ex-girlfriend Kaiha Rettinger.)
The couple currently split their time between Nashville and New York, where they spend time with 8-month-old Landon. “We have the best of both worlds,” Lambert told Extra in June. “We spend time in New York, we get to see our adorable nugget, then we get to come back to the farm and have the quiet life. I’m enjoying the balance.”
Late last month, Lambert made her return to the stage at Chicago’s Country LakeShake festival; she’s set to kick off her Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars Tour later this month. The tour will feature an all-female lineup of opening acts and special guests, including Maren Morris, Elle King, Ashley McBryede, Caylee Hammack, Tenille Townes, and of course, Lambert’s trio, the Pistol Annies.
“I think that everything in my life in the last year has weaved itself in,” she told Rolling Stone in a recent cover story. “Taking a break from the road. This the first time I will be on stage for a full show in a while, which is a good feeling. I have been spending time in New York and I got married and I’m happy, and working with [record producer] Jay [Joyce], that all brought a really new phase and sound for Miranda Lambert.”
